Anthem and Medina Chamber of Commerce Offer Group Health Insurance for Small Businesses in Medina, Ohio

Anthem has partnered with the Medina Chamber of Commerce to offer the Southern Ohio Chamber Alliance (SOCA/MEWA) group health insurance plan, specifically designed for small businesses in Medina, Ohio, with 2-49 employees.

Medically Underwritten Health Plans for Medina Businesses

This group health insurance product is medically underwritten, meaning employers must have their employees complete the application through the Form Fire electronic system. Once your group’s applications are submitted, Anthem will send rate proposals to the broker or agent you select to represent your business. For a list of participating brokers and agents authorized to sell this product, please contact the Medina Chamber of Commerce office.

Health Plan Options and Network for Medina Companies

Anthem provides a variety of plan options, including traditional 80/20 and HSA options, all utilizing the Blue Access PPO Network. The Blue Access PPO Network includes top healthcare providers in Medina, Ohio, such as Cleveland Clinic, Summa Health System, and University Hospitals.

Eligibility for Medina Chamber Members

To be eligible for this group health insurance plan, your business must be based in Medina, Ohio, and employ fewer than 50 full-time employees or full-time equivalent (FTE) employees.

Monthly Premiums and Payment Process

Premiums are determined by your group’s rating and are billed on a monthly basis via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from your business checking account.

Product Dues for Medina Chamber Members

Product dues are billed separately by the SOCA BP. These dues are calculated at the time of the new case sale and are invoiced annually on May 1st.

Annual Renewals for Medina Businesses

All renewals for this health insurance plan occur on May 1st, annually, regardless of the initial coverage start date.

Worker's’ Compensation Member Discount Program

Group Experience Rating - The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) permits “like” employers to pool their experiences, which results in an over-all premium discount. While the BWC sets the maximum discount for each group year, Hunter Consulting is able to offer a number of discount levels in multiple industry groups; not to exceed the BWC present maximum.

Group Retrospective Rating - Group Retrospective Rating is recommended for those employers who have significant claims in their experience. It allows employers to pool together through a sponsoring organization and receive periodic refunds or assessments based on the performance of the group.
